How Much Does a Business Website Cost in Malaysia in 2026?

A business website does not have one standard Malaysian price. The useful question is what the quotation includes, what you will pay after launch and whether the website supports the way your business receives enquiries or orders.

A practical way to set your website budget

Start with the smallest website that can explain your business properly. An Ipoh plumbing contractor may need service information, coverage, project photos and WhatsApp enquiries. A supplier with many product categories needs a different structure. An online retailer also needs a buying journey and order operations.

For planning, consider whether your project is a simple information site, a larger business site or a store with integrations. Do not treat a low advertised build fee as the total first-year cost. Content, languages, domain, hosting and future support may be quoted separately.

What published Malaysian prices can tell you

Public package examples checked on 6 October 2026 show how widely scope and service models differ. Sesawang lists a Starter site from RM1,500, a Business package from RM3,500 and Commerce from RM7,500. Gotka lists a Starter website from RM3,800 and a Business package from RM7,800. These are those providers’ advertised starting prices, not market averages and not BP Trade Solutions prices.

The sensible comparison is between matching deliverables, not package names. A five-page template, a custom service site and a multilingual catalogue can have very different content and support requirements. Published rates can change; check each provider’s current written quotation.

What changes the price?

  • Page count and content: who writes, edits and supplies the text? Are service pages distinct and useful?
  • Design: adapting a template and creating a custom layout involve different amounts of work.
  • Languages: translation, review and updates add work. Confirm how each language is maintained.
  • Features: booking, payments, accounts, product variants and integrations need specific scope.
  • Product entry: confirm how many products, photos and variants are included.
  • Launch: domain connection, HTTPS, testing, analytics and Search Console should be clearly included or excluded.

For a Malaysian e-commerce business, ask whether the selected platform and payment provider support your preferred payment methods, delivery rules and order workflow. Those requirements are more useful than asking only how many pages are included.

Build fee versus ongoing costs

The build fee pays for the agreed initial work. Ongoing costs may include domain renewal, hosting or platform subscriptions, business email, paid extensions, security or maintenance services, and content updates. Transaction fees and advertising spend are separate from website development.

Ask for a first-year total and a renewal-year total. Record which account owns the domain, who pays each provider and what happens if you change developer. If the first year of a service is included, confirm the renewal price and billing date.

An illustrative first-year calculation

Suppose a quotation lists RM2,500 for the build, RM100 for the domain and RM600 for annual hosting or platform costs. The first-year total would be RM3,200 before any applicable taxes or extras. These figures are an arithmetic example only, not a BP Trade Solutions package or a provider quote.

A second quote at RM3,000 may be better value if it includes services you would otherwise pay for separately. Equally, a cheaper site can be appropriate if your requirement is genuinely simple. Compare what the customer can do on the finished website.

Questions to ask before accepting a quotation

  • Which pages, languages and features are included?
  • Who supplies content and how many revision rounds are covered?
  • What will I own and what access will I receive?
  • What recurring costs and third-party fees apply?
  • What is included in SEO setup, and is ongoing SEO a separate service?
  • What are the payment milestones, launch requirements and post-launch support terms?
